Josh Sapwell

Josh has had tennis in his blood from a very early age. By the age of 9 he was enrolled into a full-time tennis academy and went on to play regularly on the national circuit by the age of 10. By 12 years old, Josh became National Under 12 Champion and began competing internationally. In 2010 aged 14, Josh won the National, European and World Championships, while also leading the British Junior Davis cup team to a 4th place finish in the Junior Davis Cup.

Between the ages of 15-18, Josh competed in U18 International events (ITFs), winning several titles, representing his country, and also getting to the quarterfinals of Junior Wimbledon in 2014. Unfortunately, at the age of 20, Josh had to stop playing due to a career ending injury in his shoulder.

From this point he turned his hand to coaching where he started off as an Academy Coach at a International High-Performance Centre. Josh worked with a handful of the best players in the country. However, he felt in his early years of coaching he needed more diversity. He decided to take a role at a David Lloyd Club which provided this diversity. During this 8-month period, he developed a larger array of coaching abilities. Since 2018 he has been applying these abilities at Berkhamsted Tennis Club.

Josh is a keen Chelsea fan, enjoys a Netflix series but the love of his life is his car. His aims for the future are to keep working hard, learning his trade as a tennis coach, and inspiring these values on all his players, beginners to advance, young and old.
