Chris Stringer - Senior Adult Coach

Chris was born in Sheffield and started playing tennis at the age of 11. He played numerous junior events and was a member of the Yorkshire senior county team. After leaving school he played full-time tennis for 3 years and played in events across England, France, and Spain.  In these events he played alongside players who went on to be world ranked, including 3 world top 10 players.

Chris became head coach of Berkhamsted Tennis Club in 1994 and held this position for 27 years until December 2020.  In this time Chris was the captain of the men’s national club team, which won promotion to the incredibly competitive regional league. Chris was also captain of the Men’s Herts League 1st team, winning promotion to the county’s highest league – the championship division. Chris has also won the Berkhamsted Men’s Singles title 8 times and Men’s Doubles title 7 times, spanning 3 decades.

From January 2021, Chris’s new role now focuses on helping develop the adult programme and coaching adult players to reach their goals and full potential, whether that be general social club play, or more competitively in singles and or doubles matches and box leagues. His huge passion for the game and extensive experience coaching and competing enable him to help players achieve great results technically, mentally, and tactically.
